Kickstarter Product Rendering Crowdfunding Renders From Your CAD

Hero shots, exploded views, colour variants and campaign stills for Kickstarter and Indiegogo, built from your CAD before a prototype exists, and checked by a mechanical engineer so they show a product you can actually make.

80+ Upwork jobs, rated 4.7/5 from 54 reviews · B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering · NDA on request

What you get

  • Hero shots for the campaign header and thumbnail
  • Exploded views and cutaways that explain how it works
  • CMF variants: colours, materials and finishes for reward tiers
  • Feature close-ups and in-use scenes
  • Stills for campaign GIFs: turntables and explode sequences
  • Web-ready files for the campaign page, ads and press kit

How it works

  1. You send the CAD (STEP, IGES or Parasolid), references and your launch date.
  2. I review the model and confirm views, price and timing in a fixed written quote.
  3. You review the first renders and give consolidated feedback.
  4. Two revision rounds are included, then the final files.

What helps

  • The latest CAD, even if it is not final
  • Colour and material references (RAL or Pantone if known)
  • Logo and label artwork
  • Campaigns or product pages whose look you like
  • Which reward tiers or variants need their own image

Renders that match a product you can build

Backers buy what the campaign shows. If the render hides a seam, a screw or a draft angle that the real part needs, the product that ships looks different and the comments section notices. I design products in Fusion 360 as a mechanical engineer, so I read your model as an engineer while I build the scenes.

  • Plausible for productionParting lines, draft, wall thickness and fillets look like a part that can be moulded or machined.
  • Real assembly in exploded viewsParts separate in a believable assembly order, with fasteners, seals and the circuit board where they actually sit.
  • Finishes you can sourceCMF variants use finishes such as anodised aluminium, soft-touch plastic or powder coat, not effects no supplier can match.
  • Problems flagged earlyDetails that look hard to mould, assemble or seal are pointed out before they reach your campaign page.

Need the CAD itself fixed or developed? That is separate engineering work: see product development engineering.

3D renders before a prototype exists

Most campaigns need images months before the first good-looking prototype. Renders made from the CAD let you build the pre-launch page, test ad creatives and collect sign-ups while tooling and samples are still in progress.

Because the scenes are built on your real model, a CAD update means swapping the model and re-rendering, not starting again. The same scenes can then be reused for the store page and retail listings after the campaign.

Fixed quoteconfirmed in writing

Every project is quoted after I see the CAD and your shot list. Views, resolution, revisions, usage rights, price and timing are confirmed in writing before work starts.

Two consolidated revision rounds are included; extra rounds or new views are quoted separately. Working to a launch date? Put it in the brief and I confirm whether it fits before you commit.

Common Questions

What do you need to start?

A CAD file (STEP, IGES or Parasolid; most CAD tools export these), colour and material references and your logo files. If you only have sketches or a rough model, say so: modelling can be quoted as a separate step.

Can you make renders before a prototype exists?

Yes. The renders are built from your CAD, so you can prepare the campaign page, ads and pre-launch sign-ups while the prototype is still being made. When the CAD changes, the existing scenes are updated instead of rebuilt.

Do you check that the design can be manufactured?

I am a mechanical engineer (B.Sc., University of Twente) and I read the model while building the scenes. Details that look hard to mould, assemble or seal are flagged before they appear in your campaign. A full DFM review or CAD changes are quoted separately as engineering work.

Can I use renders on Kickstarter or Indiegogo?

Both platforms expect campaigns to show the product honestly, and their rules for hardware projects change over time, so check the current guidelines for your category. Renders made from your real CAD help: backers see the design you plan to produce. On request I add a small render label to each image.

How is the price set?

Each project gets a fixed quote after I review the CAD and your shot list. Views, resolution, revisions, usage rights, price and timing are confirmed in writing before work starts. Two consolidated revision rounds are included.

Do you sign an NDA?

Yes, an NDA is available on request before you share an unreleased product. Please do not send confidential files through the form: ask for an NDA and a secure sharing link first.

next step.

You do not need a finished shot list. Tell me about the product and the campaign, and I reply with suggested views, a fixed quote and timing.

  • What is the product, and what stage is the CAD at?
  • Which images does the campaign need (hero, exploded, variants)?
  • Is there a prototype, or only CAD so far?
  • When does the pre-launch or campaign go live?
